Last Update: 06/08/2019

KANGAR, Aug 5 (Bernama) -- Temokin Holdings Sdn Bhd executive director Datuk Raja Azwane Raja Arif has been appointed as the Chairman of the Board of Directors of Universiti Malaysia Perlis (UniMAP) for a three-year period effective today.

Raja Azwane, who is also Temokin-Vila Jelas Sdn Bhd Consortium Executive Chairman, will replace Datuk Prof Emeritus Dr Kamarudin Hussin who retired on July 31.

UniMAP Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr R Badlishah Ahmad said the appointment of Raja Azwane would help to raise the university's visibility in the industrial sector through his extensive experience in the industry, especially in the construction sector as well as in management and business administration.

"He has more than 10 years of experience in audit management with a well-known audit firm, Arthur Andersen & Co and it will be an advantage to further strengthen the integrity of UniMAP in the higher education sector," he said in a statement here today.

Raja Azwane was born on Dec 18, 1968, and received his early education at the Putra Primary School (now SK Putra) before continuing his studies at Sultan Abdul Halim Secondary School, Alor Setar and the Malay College Kuala Kangsar.

The Kuala Krai-born Raja Azwane graduated with a Bachelor of Science (Accounting and Finance) from Hull University, London in 1991.
