Wingers' dismal performance brought TFC ll down - Coach

Last Update: 15/08/2019

KUALA TERENGGANU, Aug 15 (Bernama) -- Terengganu Football Club ll (TFC ll) failed to score the three full points in the Challenge Cup match against UKM FC last night as their two wingers were not up to mark, said coach Tengku Hazman Raja Hassan.

He said as the pairing of Mohamad Haidhir Suhaini (left winger) and Mohd Shahrul Aizad Zulkifli (right winger) failed miserably, their game plan could not be executed.

He said since the beginning of the season, the feeder club players had been plagued with mistakes making weak final passes thus losing great chances to score.

"From the start of the game,  the pattern of play in every department was already not going well, most notably our wingers failed to perform from start to finish.

"In the second half we had four opportunities to score where if we could just convert one them, we could have won," he told a press conference after the match against UKM FC ended with a 2-2 draw, at the Sultan Ismail Nasiruddin Shah Stadium last night.

Tengku Hazman admitted that his squad would face an uphill struggle in their match against Selangor United at the Selayang Municipal Council Stadium on Tuesday if they continued giving their lacklustre performance as shown last night.

Meanwhile, UKM FC coach Sulaiman Hussin said earning a 2-2 draw against TFC ll was good enough as their opponent is reputed to be strong team.

"We have played against TFC ll nine times in the Premier League and have never won a single match against them.

"This one point is already considered a great victory. I am satisfied with the game against TFC ll and hope to meet them in the finals," he said adding that the Challenge Cup is a good platform to 'market' his players to higher level teams.
