Ex-journalist wants to highlight uniqueness during ride

NIBONG TEBAL, Aug 26 (Bernama) -- In conjunction with the month of independence, a former journalist is determined to display the uniqueness of the communities in the states in peninsula Malaysia as his solo ride mission, 2019 Solo Ride Tour, which starts today.

Rudy Syareme Sheriffudin, 44, said that he wanted to raise the spirit of independence and love for the country in society by focusing on the uniqueness available in every state during his six-day tour.

‘’I will upload videos or pictures on the uniqueness of the states I pass through on my social media application,’’ he told Bernama at the flagging off ceremony here.

He started his journey at Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan (SMK) Sungai Acheh which was launched by Sungai Acheh State Assemblyman Zulkifli Ibrahim and would continue his journey south to Johor Bahru.

He would stop by in Taiping and Tapah, Perak before continuing the journey to Johor before passing through Tanjung Piai, Desaru, Endau, Rompin and Mersing to arrive in Pahang the next day.

After that, he would continue his journey to Terengganu and Kelantan before arriving at Grik, Perak and would pass through several surrounding districts before arriving in Baling, Kedah.

The journey would be continued until Perlis and then turn back to Penang on Aug 30 to spend the night at Seberang Jaya. 

He said that he would be taking part in the Penang level Independence Day Parade at the Dataran Pemuda Merdeka, Butterworth on Aug 31.

The tour mission was fully supported by the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture (MOTAC) which encouraged Malaysians to highlight and exhibit the colours of the cultures of the local populace in the states.

Rudy said that his co-operation with MOTAC would not only be able to exhibit the uniqueness available in every state, but also help homestay operators where he would be staying during his journey.
