Unemployed man nabbed with drugs worth RM40,000

TAIPING, Aug 26 (Bernama) -- An unemployed man was arrested for alleged possession of 270 gm of methamphetamine worth about RM40,500 in front of a house in Kampung Pinang, Kamunting, here today.
Taiping district police chief ACP Osman Mamat said the 34-year-old man was arrested by a team of policemen at 2 am.
The drugs in nine plastic packets were found in a yellow bag the suspect was carrying, he said in a statement here.
Osman said the suspect also tested positive for drugs and had committed seven previous drug-related offences.
Police also seized a Perodua Myvi worth RM25,000 and a Honda RS150 valued at RM10,000 following his arrest.
The suspect has been remanded for investigation under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952, which provides for the mandatory death sentence on conviction, he said.
