UMS lecturers win four gold, two bronze medals at IIDEL 2019

KOTA KINABALU, August 27 -- Six lecturers were awarded four gold and two bronze medals at the recently conducted International University Carnival on e-Learning (IIDEL) at Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (UNIMAS) Sarawak.

At the carnival held last Thursday, the lecturers presented six innovations which incorporated technological platforms for the delivery of quality education.

UMS in a statement today said the winners of the gold medals are Dr. Leau Yu Beng, Dr. Esther Jawing, Siti Hasnah Tanalol and Deena Clare Thomas.

Associate Professor Dr. Maher Fouad Sefein Beshay and Asni Tahir were awarded bronze medals.

Leau and his team developed DeColourAR: An Augmented Reality Aquarium Colouring Learning Book to inculcate interactive learning among children.

Siti Hasanah presented an application for teaching Jawi language using augmented reality entitled Learning Jawi Alphabets using Mobile AR Apps.

Esther took up the challenge of improving English language usage skills among her students by incorporating GVScapes: Mobilising the Scavenger Hunt for English Language Learning into her course curriculum.
