105 students set national record in biggest patriotic-themed puzzle

Last Update: 29/08/2019

KUANTAN, Aug 28 -- The collaboration of 105 students from three schools here was paid off when they completed a jigsaw puzzle that made it into the Malaysian Book of Records (MBR) today.

MBR council and corporate communications manager Aaron Bong Ken Jin said the 8.7-metre long and 4.2-metre wide puzzle successfully set the record as the country's largest patriotic themed puzzle.

"The patriotic-themed puzzle created a new record for MBR because the existing puzzle-related record does not use this theme," he told reporters here today.

Ken Jin was met after delivering the recognition to Broadcasting director-general Abdul Muis Shefii at the Sekolah Rendah Kebangsaan (C) Kong Min in Beserah here today.

Also present were Radio Television Malaysia (RTM) radio programme director Norba'iyah Baharuddin, Pahang broadcasting department deputy director Rida Suzirawati Muda and Indera Mahkota MP representative, Mohd Nazrin Noh.

The programme is part of RTM’s content for Independence Day celebration called ‘Aspirasi Merdeka’ through Pahangfm in collaboration with the Pahang Education Department and the Indera Mahkota parliamentary office.

A total of 105 multi-ethnic students from SRJK Kong Min, Sekolah Kebangsaan Beserah and Sekolah Kebangsaan Pelindung participated in the event.

Abdul Muis said the ‘Aspirasi Merdeka’ programme organised since 2016 was aimed at inculcating the spirit of love of the country while fostering unity in society.

"We hope the programme will integrate all walks of society, from students to adults in conjunction with this year’s National month," he said.
