Fisherman reported missing off Silam, Lahad Datu

LAHAD DATU, Sept 12  -- A fisherman has been reported missing after going out to sea off Silam near Pulau Burung, yesterday.

District police chief ACP Nasri Mansor said the man, identified as Ebno Salim, 48, and an IMM13 holder had set off at 2 pm.

"At 7 am, another fisherman spotted his boat with the engine still running. A police report was lodged at 12.28 pm today at Lahad Datu police station," he said in a statement here today.

He said a Marine Police and Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency team carried out a search and rescue operation. 

Nasri said the victim lived with his wife and eight children in Kampung Silam Kem here.
