Female drug peddler nabbed with RM20,000 worth of drugs in Kuah

LANGKAWI, Oct 4 -- The police arrested a woman with RM20,000 worth of drugs near Jalan Bukit Bengal, Kuah here, yesterday.

The 35-year-old drug peddler was arrested while riding a motorcycle to distribute heroin and methamphetamine (syabu) she was carrying.

Langkawi district police chief Supt Mohd Iqbal Ibrahim said the arrest was made by a team from the Narcotics Criminal Investigation Department at 4.10pm.

“Investigations revealed that the suspect was carrying eight transparent plastic packets containing white powder suspected to be heroin weighing 458 grammes and two transparent plastic packets containing crystalline powders suspected to be syabu weighing 13.04 grammes.

“Both drugs were estimated to be worth RM20,000. The suspect, who has a previous drug-related criminal record, has been remanded to assist the investigation,” he said in a statement here today.

Mohd Iqbal said the investigation into the case was conducted under Sections 39A (1) and 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.
