All evacuation centres closed down in Baling

ALOR SETAR, Oct 7 -- All temporary evacuation centres housing 101 flood victims from 43 families in Baling were closed at 2 pm today.

Baling District Disaster Management Secretariat officer Lt (Civil Defence) Mohd Faizol Ab Aziz said the closure involved four centres namely Kampung Seri Ketengga Surau, Kampung Keda Batu 8 Community Hall, Dewan Kenangan Tun Abdul Razak, and Kompleks Rakan Muda Baling.

“About 31 people from 15 families took shelter at Surau Kampung Seri Ketengga and Kampung Keda Batu 8 Community Hall, followed by 57 from 23 families at Dewan Kenangan Tun Abdul Razak and 13 from five families were placed at Kompleks Rakan Muda Baling,” he said in a statement here today.

He said the floods that started Saturday night, began to recede this morning, allowing residents to return home.

 Among the villages affected by the floods were Kampung Batu 60, Kampung Bukit Sebelah, Kampung Bendang Sera, Kampung Bawah Gunung, Kampung Pokok Sena and Kampung Lubuk Pedati.
