Sukma 2020 venue development projects on track

Last Update: 08/10/2019

JOHOR BAHRU, Oct 8 -- Johor Menteri Besar Datuk Dr Sahruddin Jamal is pleased with the venue development progress for the 2020 Malaysia Games (Sukma) which will be held in the state from July 11 to 19 next year.

Today, Sahruddin visited several venues and found that no project was delayed and it could be completed as early as February or April next year.

"So far, I'm very satisfied. This means that there are no projects delayed and some may even be completed sooner," he told reporters after visiting Sportcity Mount Austin, one of the Sukma 2020 venues, here today.

He added that at the athletics and rugby stadium, as well as the shooting centre located at the Sportcity Mount Austin, work has progressed up to 95 per cent.

Two other venues, Youth Hub at Iskandar Puteri, which houses the velodrome and BMX tracks, and Arena Emas at Taman Impian Emas, which houses the venue for archery, lawn bowls, petanque and squash, each recorded 46 per cent development project progress.

"We have visited all the venues and the work progress is going well and on schedule. We hope there are no more issues arising," he said.
