Single mother struggling to care for bedridden son needs help

Last Update: 20/10/2019

KOTA BHARU, Oct 20  -- A single mother without any source of income, is appealing for help to ease her burden in taking care of her son who has been bedridden for 14 years.

According to Siti Eshah Mahamood, 60, her son Mohd Faizul Rahimi, 32, was involved in a road accident in 2006 while travelling back to his hostel in his final year at the Industrial Training Institute (ILP) in Kuching, Sarawak.

Following the incident he was hospitalised for almost a month at the Kuching General Hospital as he was left with a spinal fracture and a broken neck.

“After he was discharged from Kuching General Hospital, Mohd Faizul underwent  treatment at the Raja Perempuan Zainab II Hospital (HRPZ II) for another three months before he was allowed to return home," she told reporters when met at her home in Kampung Batu 4, Jalan Kuala Krai here, today.

The mother of three said Mohd Faizul had been suffering from bedsores since 2008 and his condition had worsened as she could not keep up with the hospital appointments due to financial constraints and transportation problems.

Siti Eshah said she needed about RM500 a month for her son’s ostomy and wound care as currently she had to depend on the Social Welfare Department (JKM) monthly aid of RM350 and donations to meet Mohd Faizul's medical needs.

Those willing to give a helping hand may channel their contribution via Bank Rakyat account number 220881279918 on behalf of Siti Eshah Mahamood, or call her at 011-27718601.
