294 flood victims in Perak still at relief centres

IPOH, Oct 22 -- A total of 294 people from 79 families who were evacuated because of floods in Perak are still at relief centres tonight.

A spokesman of the State Disaster Management Committee secretariat said Sekolah Kebangsaan (SK) Changkat Jong in Teluk Intan, which opened as a relief centre on Friday, has 234 victims from 64 families in the Hilir Perak district as at 9pm.

"Another 60 flood victims from 15 families in the Kerian district are at SK Changkat Lobak," he said in a statement here tonight.

Meanwhile, a spokesman of the Kerian District Disaster Management secretariat said the 60 included seven people from two families in Kampung Matang Tengah who were evacuated at 6pm today after their houses were flooded.
