GEORGE TOWN, Oct 29 — A lucky married couple in Penang would be reserving a couple of days for their honeymoon after winning a four night cruise trip and a plane ticket to Indonesia.
Karen Soo, 42, won a Singapore-Port Klang-Phuket voyage for two onboard the Quantum of the Seas whereas her husband, Lee Tee Yeow, 45, got a return flight ticket to Banda Aceh.
The couple said that they were planning to have a family trip to Taiwan, which they had bought the tour package during the Malaysian Association of Tour and Travel Agents (Matta) Fair in Penang which was held between Oct 11 and 13.
“We attended every Matta Fair event here in Penang, but this is our first time winning something from their lucky draw,” Soo told reporters here after a prize presentation ceremony in a hotel here.
Soo and Lee were two out of the 1,778 participants for the Matta Fair Penang October 2019 Buyers’ Contest.
A total of 17 winners have walked away with cruise vacations, return air tickets, hotel stays and vouchers and theme parks admission tickets, with the overall prizes for international category valued over RM30,000.
The grand prize was claimed by a 66-year-old pensioner Khoo Lim Poh, who won a business class return air ticket from Penang to Shanghai.
Khoo, who is also a fan for Matta Fair Penang, said that he had won several lucky draws but never won the grand prize until today.
“The only downside (for this prize) is that it is a ticket for one, but I am willing to buy another ticket so that I can travel with my wife,” he added.
