KLANG, Dec 5 -- The late Datuk Nassier Wahab was laid to rest at the Batu Belah Muslim Cemetery here at about 11.35 am.
Nassier Wahab, whose real name is Mohd Nassir Abd Wahab, 57, died at the Universiti Malaya Specialist Centre (UMSC), Petaling Jaya at 12.45 am today.
On June 1, Nassier, best known for his song ‘Sekali Aku Jatuh Cinta’ underwent surgery to remove a tumour on his left jaw.
Earlier, his remains were brought to the Sirajuddin Al-Anuar Mosque in Kampung Batu Belah for funeral prayers before the burial.
Nassier Wahab is survived by his wife Datin Fatimah Abd Rauf, 56, and a daughter, Intan Najihah Mohd Nassir, 22.
Among his friends who attended the funeral were Datuk M. Nasir, Datuk DJ Dave, Datuk Nashrudin Elias (Nash), Herman Tino and Ramlah Ram.
Fatimah, when met by reporters after the funeral, said on Tuesday her husband was admitted to the UMSC for blood transfusion following the singer's illness.
However, she said, Nassier had developed a fever and was given medication to relieve the pain but several hours later, she saw her husband waking up from sleep and vomiting blood before he fell unconscious.
“The doctor administered CPR (cardiopulmonary resuscitation) for 40 minutes but to no avail, before he was confirmed dead,” she said.
Meanwhile, singer Nash said he had lost a good friend and described Nassier as very humble and respectful of others.
“He (Nassier) was my companion for early morning (Subuh) prayer because almost every day, we would be communicating via WhatsApp to remind each other to perform the prayer and the last time I was in contact with him was three days ago,” he said.
