Assessment Tax: Penang to continue applying existing rate until objections resolved

GEORGE TOWN, Oct 17 -- Penang will continue to apply the existing assessment rate for the first half of next year until a hearing on objections by ratepayers to the new rate is resolved.

The State Housing, Town and Country Planning and Local Government Committee chairman Jagdeep Singh Deo said the decision was made after 89,762 objections had been received as of Oct 14 over the implementation of the new rate.....

Kedah to study suitability to implement 90-day maternity leave

IPOH, Oct 17 -- A 36-year-old fisherman was sentenced to 38 years in prison and 23 strokes of the cane by the Sessions Court here today, after pleading guilty to 22 sexual offences against his 15-year-old stepdaughter, with the attacks beginning when she was aged 12.  

 
 

More flood victims return home in Sungai Siput
