Desaru Coast aims big for international wedding tourism

KOTA TINGGI , May 19  (Bernama) -- Desaru Development Holdings Sdn Bhd -- the master developer of Desaru Coast Resort here plans to promote the integrated resort as a preferred wedding choice for international tourists.

Its chief executive officer Roslina Arbak said Desaru Coast has its own distinct attraction to offer newly wed couples, including the advantage of owning a world-renowned chain of hotels and resorts, convention centres, a theme water park, golf course and a beautiful coastline as well to complete the package.

“Several months ago, I participated in a road show in India and they showed keen interest on our wedding packages (in Desaru), for family vacations and also to conduct business.

“So India could potentially be one of our (Desaru Coast) biggest market for weddings,” she told Bernama after officiating the opening of the ‘Desaru Coast Gourmet Series; Malaysian Journey Farm To Table’, which was also attended by Australian executive chef Christopher James Miller, here recently.

Roslina, however, said while much attention is being given to the foreign market, the domestic scene was still firmly in sight as it also plays a vital role in terms of revenue.

“The (domestic) market is very important to us. Even during off season, locals are constantly heading here for conventions, meetings, training and so on,” she said.
