'Night At The Museum' 2024 Programme Enters Malaysia Book Of Records

KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 31 (Bernama) -- The ‘Bermalam Di Muzium Perdana 2024’ (Overnight at the National Museum), organised by the Department of Museums Malaysia, has entered the Malaysia Book of Records (MBOR), with the biggest number of participants painting patriotic posters.

The National Unity Ministry in a statement said the record was for the largest participation in patriotic-themed poster making, with the recognition given at the MBOR Certificate signing ceremony today.

"The themes chosen by the students depict patriotic elements such as national heroes, historic buildings and historical events," according to the statement.

The Overnight at the National Museum programme is among the main programmes in the 'Program Citra Nusa@Muzium', a museum programme based on cultural heritage, targeting the participation of the entire community from various cultural and racial backgrounds.

The programme is aimed at igniting the younger generation’s interest in tangible and intangible heritage through the approach of museum rejuvenation via art and technology.

A total of 2,222 secondary school students, aged between 13 and 17, participated in this programme through 33 museums nationwide comprising 18 federal museums under the purview of Museums Department; nine state museums; and six museum institutions nationwide.

Meanwhile, National Unity Minister Datuk Aaron Ago Dagang in his speech at the closing ceremony of the Overnight at the National Museum 2024 programame asked young people to increase their patriotism and foster a spirit of unity among themselves to ensure that the country’s continues to be preserved and defended.

Under this programme, Bank Negara Malaysia (BNM) also launched 'MAG in Your Pocket' which is a digital strategy of the Bank Negara Malaysia Museum and Art Gallery as unlimited mobile learning.

The app offers learning materials accessible to anyone, regardless of where they are in expanding access and inclusivity to financial education.

The ceremony was also attended by BNM deputy governor Datuk Marzunisham Omar; National Unity Ministry secretary-general Datuk Azman Mohd Yusof; and Museums Malaysia Department director-general Datuk Kamarul Baharin A. Kasim.
