MALAYSIA MUST BUCKLE UP IN ADOPTING IR 4.0 - INDUSTRY CONSULTANT

08/07/2019 06:08 PM

KUALA LUMPUR, July 8 (Bernama) -- Malaysia is in a strong position to capture opportunities derived from Industrial Revolution (IR) 4.0, but it must buckle up to push for the digital transformation of the nations’ manufacturing services, said an industry consultant.

Lean Smart Industry Solutions PLT founder Dr Azlan Nithia said technological changes were vast in applications and could be complex, hence, a concerted effort must be taken to rally the manufacturing industry players together.

“We also must drive the conversation and awareness to the technological developments and opportunities, share knowledge and experiences to create a justifiable return of investment, so that our nation will capture the leadership position that is available to us and not being left out,” he said in a statement today.

He also warned that the failure to transform quickly and adopt IR 4.0 would result in losing the country’s economic stake and opportunity.

According to the World Economic Forum (WEF) ‘Readiness for the Future of Production Report’, Malaysia is among 25 countries assessed to be in the best position to benefit from the changing nature of production.

The report is assessing how well-positioned global economies are to shape and benefit from changes in the production driven by the Fourth Industrial Revolution (IR 4.0).

Meanwhile, Lean Smart, an advanced and smart manufacturing training provider, is organising International Smart Manufacturing 4.0 Conference (ISMC2019) from Sept 18-20, this year.

The three-day conference will discuss various readiness challenges faced by the manufacturing industries in Malaysia and will feature policy, expert, research and case study presentations by distinguished speakers and panellists.
