GSA ACQUIRES MALAYSIAN MRO OPERATIONS FROM RUAG INTERNATIONAL
KUALA LUMPUR, June 15 -- Global Systemes Asia Sdn Bhd (GSA) today announced it has acquired the maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) operations from Swiss aerospace company RUAG International in Malaysia.
In a statement, GSA said the acquisition would significantly increase the MRO capability of GSA helicopters and aircraft as well as support Global Turbines Asia Sdn Bhd (GTA) operations.
"The synergy between GSA-GTA and RUAG offers an enhanced service portfolio in terms of aircraft component additions, generator starters and electrical systems in the GTA MRO service offering.
"This makes GSA the first Malaysian company to have a complete MRO ecosystem portfolio comprising military (GTA) and civil (RUAG International)," the statement said.
GSA chairman Datuk Nonee Ashirin Mohd Radzi said the acquisition would create new career opportunities in the transformation of the nation's aerospace industry.
"The establishment of GTA-GSA's collective business will also create high skilled jobs and great benefits to the group, customers, shareholders and stakeholders," he said.
Meanwhile, the head of the National Aerospace Industry Coordinating Office (NAICO) Prof Shamsul Kamar Abu Samah said GSA’s acquisition would expand the current aerospace portfolio and be one of the key catalysts in attracting quality business partners to consider Subang as their preferred location in Southeast Asia, and would further strengthen the MRO ecosystem in Malaysia.
