KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 18 -- Takaful Ikhlas Family Bhd, a wholly-owned subsidiary of MNRB Holdings Bhd, has launched Cancer Rider, which provides additional coverage on cancer treatment costs.

The launch of Cancer Rider was officiated by Permodalan Nasional Bhd (PNB) group chairman Tun Arifin Zakaria in conjunction with Digital Shares Week (MSD) 2021.

MNRB Holdings Bhd president and group chief executive officer Zaharudin Daud said cancer is one of the diseases that requires specialised treatment to cure and treatment is also costly.

"With this Cancer Rider, it can help ease the financial burden not only for the patient but also the family concerned," he said in a statement today.

He said that in conjunction with this year's MSD, policyholders for the Cancer Rider plan or other family takaful plans from Takaful Ikhlas had the opportunity to win special prizes through the IKHLAS Sustenance Draw contest which offers prizes for the latest models of electronic items.

"I hope the public will take this opportunity to join the Takaful Ikhlas family plan during the MSD," he said.

Cancer Rider is an additional benefit to Takaful Ikhlas’ existing products, which is IKHLAS Bersama and it is offered to individuals as early as 30 days up to 60 years old and specially designed by taking into account the medical and financial needs of policyholders who get inflicted with cancer.

Cancer Rider offers coverage benefits worth up to RM1.5 million to participants. It also provides 30 per cent compensation to participants if diagnosed with early stage cancer such as carcinoma in situ, early chronic lymphocytic leukemia, early prostate cancer, early thyroid cancer and early bladder cancer in addition to 100 per cent compensation to participants if diagnosed with late stage cancer .

Cancer Rider also provides ‘hospice care’ allowance benefits of up to RM10,000 and this benefit is the first to be introduced in Malaysia.

It also provides a treatment allowance benefit of RM100 per day or up to RM10,000 when patients undergo treatments such as chemotherapy, radiotherapy, immunotherapy and post-cancer surgery.

Takaful Ikhlas also provides e-vouchers with a total value of RM15,000 to be won by 300 takaful family plan policyholders who subscribe to takaful family products from Takaful Ikhlas during MSD 2021.
