SHAH ALAM, May 19 (Bernama) -- Northport (Malaysia) Bhd, one of two terminals in Port Klang, has won the International Association of Ports and Harbours (IAPH) 2022 Sustainability Award under the health, safety and security category.
The announcement was made during the gala dinner in conjunction with the IAPH 2022 World Ports Conference on May 17, 2022, in Vancouver, Canada.
This is the first award for Malaysian ports since the World Ports Sustainability Programme was introduced in 2018.
In a statement, Port Klang Authority general manager Capt K. Subramaniam said Northport's efforts in the field of health, safety and security had already received several industry awards previously, but the victory on the world stage was something special.
He said Northport had a strategic roadmap to conduct its business activities to the highest level in health, safety and environment standards, with the aim of achieving excellence.
Themed "Close the Gaps", the World Port Conference saw industry experts gather to discuss technological challenges and successes in the port sector with an emphasis on sustainability through good practices based on efficient and clean energy, digitisation and resilience.
