DIGITAL TRANSFORMATION: TM ONE TO LAUNCH 10TH DATA CENTRE

03/06/2022 08:19 PM

KUALA LUMPUR, June 3 (Bernama) -- TM One is currently planning to launch its 10th data centre which is expected to be announced in the third quarter of this year.

TM One Executive vice-president Shazurawati Abd Karim said TM One, as the sole local cloud service provider, was committed to strengthening its digital offerings in meeting the needs of the government's MyGovCloud service while realising the digital transformation of the public sector.

“Through the Malaysia Digital Blueprint, the aspiration is (of the country) for 80 per cent of public sector data to be stored in data centres and in the cloud.

"So far, we have invested almost RM1 billion in TM One data centres nationwide to ensure we can accommodate cloud data in Malaysia," she said.

She said this while appearing on Bernama TV’s Ruang Bicara programme that discussed the topic ‘Menyokong Perjalanan Transformasi Digital Malaysia’ (Supporting Malaysia's Digital Transformation Journey) yesterday.

Shazurawati said TM One's data centre infrastructure was able to drive the country's digital transformation through two important aspects, namely local data residency and data sovereignty in accordance with Malaysian laws.

“We believe that the collaboration between TM One and the government can expedite digitilsation of the public sector so as to achieve Malaysia's status as a high-tech developed country by 2030.

“TM One's data centre is Rated 3 (Tier III Data Centre), we have an international standard data centre as a multi-cloud provider that can also host hyperscalers," she said.

Meanwhile, she said TM One is the first organisation in Malaysia to subscribe to 'green energy tariff' from Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB) for its data centres, recognised as Green Building Index (GBI).
