PERUSAHAAN OTOMOBIL KEDUA SDN BHD (Perodua) has lauded the Ministry of Finance's (MoF) announcement to allow customers to enjoy the sales tax exemption as long as their vehicles are booked up to June 30, 2022, saying the registration extension to March 31, 2023 is a relief to the ecosystem and consumers.

In a statement today, Perodua president and chief executive officer Datuk Zainal Abidin Ahmad said this would give the industry and market some breathing room to meet consumers demand while at the same time give the players time to overcome various issues besetting the industry.

“To-date, we have significant outstanding orders which we are working to fulfil," he added.

Zainal Abidin said Perodua had registered 106,179 vehicles between January and May this year, which was 10 per cent more than the 96,281 units registered in the same period last year.

For this purpose, MRSB has entered into a conditional sale and purchase agreement with Sime Darby Property (Nilai) Sdn Bhd, Dynaciate said in a filing with Bursa Malaysia.

"Barring any unforeseen circumstances, the proposed acquisition is expected to be completed by the second quarter of 2024," it added.

Ericsson Mobility Report's latest edition has predicted that the current global 5G subscriptions will pass the one billion milestone by the end of 2022 and 4.4 billion in 2027.

The report said 5G subscriptions in Southeast Asia and Oceania were around 15 million at end-2021 and are expected to more than double during 2022.

"As more network deployments take place over the next few years, 5G mobile subscriptions are expected to grow at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 83 per cent over the forecast period, reaching 570 million in 2027.

"This figure will almost equal the total regional number of 4G subscriptions at that time. Mobile data traffic per smartphone continues to grow strongly and is expected to reach around 45GB per month in 2027 – a CAGR of 30 per cent," it added.

In a statement today, SKS Airways said this was following the success of its launch of scheduled commercial flights to Pulau Redang and Pulau Tioman from Jan 31-May 1, 2022, which has further boosted the country's domestic tourism industry.

It said SKS Airways offers an island holiday experience in which passengers can enjoy breathtaking views from inside the aircraft throughout the trip, using a 19-passenger DHC6-300 Twin Otter aircraft with an average altitude of 10,000 feet.
