KLICC APPOINTED TO IMPLEMENT MAQAM TRAINING PROGRAMME FOR UMRAH, HAJ PILGRIMS

06/08/2022 06:35 PM

KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 6 (Bernama) -- The Kuala Lumpur International Chamber of Commerce (KLICC) has been appointed by Wadi Makkah, a subsidiary of Umm Al-Qura University, Saudi Arabia, as the main licensee to implement the Maqam Training programme for prospective umrah and haj pilgrims in 23 countries, including Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia and Brunei.

KLICC president, Adjunct Professor Datuk Hashim Saleh, said that Maqam Training is a form of training that emphasises the social etiquette, health and safety of pilgrims before and during their stay in the Holy Land.

“This Maqam Training is a form of training that does not involve the pillars as conducted by the Lembaga Tabung Haji,” he said after the signing ceremony of the World Haj and Mu'tamir Maqam Training, between KLICC and Maqam Training licence holders from ASEAN countries, here today.

He said that the training module was developed by Umm Al-Qura University after nearly three years of research.

“We are just starting. Hence, for now, we have appointed several companies in Indonesia, Singapore, Melaka, Johor and the Federal Territories as agents to help implement the programme effectively.

“The programme is targeted to be implemented in the next haj season,” he said.
