BANK ISLAM MALAYSIA BHD has appointed Firdaos Rosli as its new chief economist, effective Sept 1, 2022.

In a statement today, Bank Islam said Firdaos takes over the reins from Mohd Afzanizam Abdul Rashid.

Firdaos was the chief economist at MARC Ratings Bhd and had an almost 10-year stint in various roles with the Institute of Strategic & International Studies Malaysia.

He holds a Bachelor of Arts (Accounting and Finance) degree from Lancaster University, United Kingdom (UK) and a Master’s Degree in Public Policy from The London School of Economics, as well as a Political Science (LSE), UK, as a Chevening scholar, said the bank.

RANHILLS UTILITIES BHD has received consent and support from the Ministry of Science, Technology and Information to conduct a feasibility study called “Coal-2 Hydro The Decarbonisation of Malaysia Electricity Industry”.

In a filing with Bursa Malaysia today, the company said it will make the appropriate announcement when there is material development from the outcome of the feasibility study.

T7 GLOBAL BHD’s wholly-owned subsidiary, Tanjung Offshore Services Sdn Bhd has received a letter of award from Petronas Carigali Sdn Bhd, which is effective for two years until Aug 11, 2024. 

In a filing with Bursa Malaysia today, T7 Global said under the award, Tanjung Offshore will provide platform-based underwater inspection services by utilising mini remotely operated vehicles (mini-ROV) for over 30 offshore structures such as jackets and pipelines in Malaysia.

“The mini-ROV business is anticipated to provide annual recurring revenue for T7 Global.

“We view this as a long-term sustainable business where technology plays a vital role in transforming the way we perform inspection and maintenance works,” said T7 Global group chief executive officer Tan Kay Zhuin.

ISKANDAR WATERFRONT CITY BHD (IWCity) has approved the audit committee’s recommendation to appoint Messrs Crowe Malaysia PLT (Crowe) as its new external auditors for the financial year ending Dec 31, 2022.  

In a filing with Bursa Malaysia today, IWCity said the appointment is subject to the company receiving the written consent from Crowe to act as the external auditors of the company pursuant to Section 264(5) of the Companies Act 2016.

Yesterday, it was reported that Ernst & Young PLT resigned as IWCity auditors in a notice dated Sept 6, 2022, with their office term to end 21 days from Sept 27, 2022.

The filing said the resignation is on a voluntary basis and IWCity will identify and appoint new auditors.

VORTEX CONSOLIDATED BHD has changed its name to Harvest Miracle Capital Bhd.

In a filing with Bursa Malaysia today, Vortex said the stock short names will be changed to HM. 

It will be traded and quoted under the new names with effect from 9 am, Monday, Sept 12, 2022.
