GEORGE TOWN, Sept 18 (Bernama) -- Acer e-Enabling Service Business Inc (AEB), Acer’s subsidiary for IT services, is looking at opportunities to spread its wings to Malaysia by partnering with IT companies here.

Chief strategy officer Tayu Cheng said the company sees vast potential for digitalisation in Malaysia, considering the government’s commitment to steer the nation towards this area with the launch of the country’s digital economy blueprint.

“In the near future, we hope to form an alliance with an IT partner here to bid for government programmes or help local enterprises do cloud-based services or digitalise their process. There are quite a lot of opportunities here.

“We will have to identify these partners first and make friends with them. If it goes smoothly, we are open to buying some of their shares and working together more (closely),” he told Bernama on the sidelines of the World Congress on Innovation and Technology (WCIT) 2022, which ended last Thursday.

He said events across the globe such as the US-China trade war, the COVID-19 pandemic, and the Ukraine-Russia conflict have driven prices and inflation upwards, thus forcing corporations to find solutions to lower their costs while optimising their processes.

Subsequently, he said this has also pushed for greater digitalisation for a lot of markets as companies started spending more on IT solutions and begin opting for cloud-based services.

“AEB was established in 2012 and we started setting up the infrastructure to provide cloud service as early as 2016, so we are well positioned to take advantage of this uptrend.

“The solutions we provide to our clients are highly-tailored to their needs because we make assessments and consult them to get to know their processes before deploying our IT solutions to them,” he said.

Meanwhile, AEB was awarded the Public/Private Partnership Award at the 2022 WITSA Global ICT Excellence Awards, held in conjunction with the WCIT 2022, for its Taiwan i-Registration Platform of Cultural Events project, built for Taiwan’s culture ministry.

The Taiwan i-Registration Platform of Cultural Events project has been operational since 2013 and has successfully recruited 26 local venue operators to join the platform, including museums, art galleries, research institutes, and more.

This cloud-based platform provides a one-stop service for the public, including event inquiry, online registration, reservation for guided tours, venue rental, and memberships.

The platform demonstrates AEB’s state-of-the-art technology that speeds up digital transformation for its clients, while also contributing to a greener environment by reducing paper consumption and carbon emissions saved from making physical trips to purchase event tickets.
