155 CAREGIVERS TRAINED UNDER KPS BERHAD'S CAREGIVER TRAINING PROGRAMME

KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 7 (Bernama) -- Kumpulan Perangsang Selangor Berhad (KPS) has provided elderly care training to 155 independent caregivers since the introduction of its Caregiver Training Programme in 2019.

Its deputy chief executive officer (Finance and Corporate Services), Suzila Khairuddin, said the programme focused on meeting the special and unique needs of the elderly, which included services such as assisted living, adult day care, long-term care, nursing home, hospice care and home care.

“For the theory classes, participants are taught by trainers trained under Cality Care Malaysia, while practical training (for trainees) is conducted at the homes for senior citizens that are by non-governmental organisation (NGOs), she told Bernama at the KPS Caregiver Training Programme graduation ceremony yesterday.

The KPS Caregiver Training Programme is in line with KPS Berhad’s Entrepreneurship Development Programme’s objective to enhance vocational skills and business projects that elevate the social economic status of participants.

As independent caregivers can can earn more than RM1,500 per month, she said.

Meanwhile, Cality Care Malaysia chief executive officer James Kim thanked KPS Berhad for funding and giving continuous support to Cality Care Malaysia to organise the training under the KPS Caregiver Training Programme. 

He said Cality Care Malaysia had been granted pre-approval by the Department of Skill Development to transform Cality Care’s training modules into nationally accredited certification under the National Dual Training System scheme.

“It is Cality Care’s intention to continue our relationship with KPS to convert all graduates' training knowledge into nationally accredited certificates in the coming years,” he said.
