LABUAN, Dec 6 (Bernama) -- The Malaysian National Association of Employment Agencies (PIKAP), representing key foreign labour employment agencies in the country, has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Neurogine Sdn Bhd to initiate cross-border remittance programmes.
Neurogine’s group chief executive officer Owen Chen said the collaboration, targeting Indonesia and Myanmar, is set to begin in the first quarter of 2025, leveraging the increasing remittance flows between Malaysia and Indonesia.
He said that with 110 active members, PIKAP represents a significant stakeholder in the foreign labour employment sector, engaging with the Labour Departments in Peninsular Malaysia, Sarawak, and Sabah.
Chen said the partnership aligns with the ongoing digitalisation efforts between Bank Negara Malaysia and Bank Indonesia.
He added that both central banks have been strengthening payment systems collaboration, following the launch of a cross-border QR payment linkage in May 2023.
“The MoU is signed today at PIKAP’s headquarters in Kuala Lumpur, and this collaboration will enhance awareness of Neurogine nRemit, our proprietary mobile-based remittance technology, which has been successfully deployed through PT Pos Indonesia’s POSPAY and other licensed money service businesses,” Chen told Bernama today.
He said Neurogine has achieved several milestones, including certifications under the Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI DSS).
He added that the company’s Neurogine n2Tap solution, validated as a Mobile Payment on Commercial off-the-Shelf (MPoC) Solution, is one of only 14 global entries on PCI DSS’ list.
This recognition solidifies Neurogine's position as a leading global mobile payment technology developer.
The MoU signifies a step forward in modernising financial services and promoting secure, efficient cross-border remittance services across the region.
