PUTRAJAYA, Feb 23 (Bernama) -- Putrajaya Holdings Sdn Bhd (PjH) is spending more than RM106 million to upgrade its Alamanda shopping centre here, said its chief executive officer (CEO) Datuk Izwan Hasli Mohd Ibrahim.

He said the Alamanda upgrade involved more than 200,000 square feet of floor space and brought several new attractions such as the Escape Putrajaya theme park and puppet stage as well as the addition of a shop lot.

"This is the largest renovation project ever undertaken by PjH since Alamanda opened in 2004.

"After 20 years, it is time for us to upgrade this shopping centre. The new Alamanda has succeeded in bringing a new face which I am sure will be a catalyst for Putrajaya as a whole," he said during the inauguration ceremony for the upgrading of the shopping centre here today.

It was officiated by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim and attended by Minister in the Prime Minister's Department (Federal Territory) Dr Zaliha Mustafa and Suria KLCC Sdn Bhd CEO Francis Tan.

Izwan Hasli said PjH's commitment to advance Putrajaya is based on three main values, namely catalytic value, commercial value and social value.

"We hope to make Putrajaya ‘The Best Address In Malaysia’,” he said.

He also said PjH would open a new hotel, the Fraser Residence, here towards the end of the year, which is also the company's third hotel after The Everly Hotel and DoubleTree by Hilton Putrajaya Lakeside.

In another development, Izwan Hasli said PjH and the Pulse Group, owned by Perbadanan Putrajaya (PPj), will work together to organise the ASEAN Food Festival this Ramadan, in conjunction with Malaysia's ASEAN 2025 chairmanship.

He said the two hotels owned by PjH would collaborate with the Pulse Grande Hotel and the Putrajaya International Convention Centre (PICC) to make the festival a success.

"Their menus will offer ASEAN flavours. Indirectly we will be able to promote the ASEAN chairmanship to all," he said.
