KUALA LUMPUR, March 1 (Bernama) -- KPJ Healthcare Bhd posted a net profit of RM353.81 million for financial year 2024 (FY2024), up from RM263.40 million a year earlier, driven by cost optimisation, operational efficiency and patient-centric investments.

It also recorded a net gain from the divestment of its aged care business in Australia, classified under discontinued operations.

Revenue rose to RM3.92 billion from RM3.42 billion, it said in a Bursa Malaysia filing on Friday.

Capital expenditure surged 66 per cent to RM406 million in 2024 from RM244 million in 2023.

The bed occupancy rate increased to 69 per cent from 67 per cent. Inpatient admissions rose to 388,101 from 361,987, while outpatient visits edged up to 3.00 million from 2.95 million.

“This strategic investment supports infrastructure development, digital transformation and service enhancements across KPJ’s network, strengthening long-term resilience and advancing healthcare delivery,” it said.

For the three months ended Dec 31, 2024, KPJ's net profit jumped to RM120.51 million from RM73.39 million a year earlier, while revenue climbed to RM1.05 billion from RM911.45 million.

KPJ remains focused on long-term sustainable growth, leveraging technology, strategic partnerships and patient-centric innovations to enhance the patient experience, expand health tourism and create value for shareholders, its president and managing director, Chin Keat Chyuan, said.

“Managing staff costs, a prevalent challenge in the industry, will remain a priority for us in 2025. Concurrently, we will enhance our efforts in cost optimisation and operational efficiency.

“Our collaborations with key stakeholders, including the government and industry partners, will continue to generate strategic value. This year, we are advancing our digital-first vision, with AI playing a key role in improving the patient experience and healthcare delivery.”

Though still in its early stages, this transformation is essential. As KPJ pushes boundaries, sustainability, innovation and excellence will remain at its core—driving its commitment to delivering the best for patients while shaping the future of healthcare, he said.
