EPF closes Kangar branch temporarily, reopens Pekan branch
KUALA LUMPUR, April 18 -- The Employees Provident Fund (EPF) is temporarily closing its office and counters in Kangar, Perlis, from April 19 (Monday) until further notice, after an employee at the branch was tested positive for COVID-19.
This is following instructions from the Ministry of Health for the management of the premises to conduct disinfection and sanitisation, it said in a statement.
The employee is now under treatment for recovery while contact tracing is currently underway, the fund said.
"The ministry has also instructed all EPF Kangar employees to be quarantined at home until April 25 and undergo COVID-19 swab tests," it said.
Meanwhile, EPF said its branch in Pekan, Pahang, which has been closed since April 9 this year, will be reopened starting April 19.
"Members are advised to transact online via i-Akaun for selected services or reschedule their visits to a later date via the Janji Temu Online facility if there is a need to be present at EPF branches in person.
"All EPF branches will continue to strictly observe physical distancing and other preventive standard operating procedures in mitigating the spread of COVID-19," it added.
