BATU PAHAT, Aug 3 (Bernama) -- The Johor state government has urged Johoreans to promptly report to the state religious office and the police if they have any information regarding deviant teachings.

State Islamic Religious Affairs Committee chairman Mohd Fared Mohd Khalid said the authorities would take enforcement and legal action against those involved.

He said the state government would also intensify monitoring efforts on Islamic bodies to ensure that they are not involved in teachings that have been banned and declared as deviant.

“It is to ensure that teachings that are contrary to the Ahl al-Sunnah wa al-Jama'ah doctrine do not remain active in this state,” he told reporters after the closing ceremony of the course on the Pahang tahfiz kindergartens module for 542 Johor Tabika Kemas teachers here today.

Mohd Fared was reported as saying last month that the Johor Islamic Religious Department was closely monitoring five of the 19 deviant teachings banned in the state namely Syiah, Hizbut Tahrir, Millah Abraham, Suhaini Mohammad (Sihulk) and Qadiani.
