16/08/2024 07:36 PM

KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 16 (Bernama) -- National security forces view the salary adjustment announced today as a boost to personnel motivation, leading to enhanced performance and more efficient service delivery.

Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Razarudin Husain expressed gratitude on behalf of the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM), describing the announcement as evidence of the government’s appreciation for the unwavering commitment and contributions of civil servants, especially PDRM members and veterans.

“This salary increase not only improves our well-being but also further motivates us to deliver better and more efficient services.

“Civil servants who work hard and deliver exceptional performance will have the opportunity for promotion as a reward in recognition of their efforts and dedication,” he said in a statement today.

Razarudin said the promotion not only serves as recognition but also provides opportunities for them to take on greater responsibilities and contribute more to the organisation, and to the country as a whole.

“This recognition also demonstrates the government’s commitment to safeguarding the welfare of civil servants,” he said.

Echoing the same sentiment, Chief of Defence Force General Tan Sri Mohammad Ab Rahman said the announcement reflects the government’s concern in alleviating the burden on civil servants, including Malaysian Armed Forces (MAF) personnel.

“It also reflects the MADANI Government’s serious commitment to easing living costs and ensuring the well-being of all MAF personnel and veterans,” he told Bernama.

Earlier, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim announced that the government had agreed to replace the Malaysian Remuneration System (SSM) with the Public Service Remuneration System (SSPA), effective Dec 1.

Also announced was a 15 per cent salary adjustment to civil servants in the Implementing, Management and Professional groups, and seven per cent for those in the Top Management group.

The salary adjustment will be implemented in phases, starting from Dec 1, 2024, for Phase 1, and from Jan 1, 2026, for Phase 2.
