KUCHING, Jan 8 (Bernama) -- A 13-year-old schoolboy who threatened to injure his female classmate in October last year was ordered by the Magistrate's Court here today to be placed on a two-year good behaviour bond.
Magistrate Mason Jaro Lenya Barayan also ordered the boy to report to the Kuching Division of the Social Welfare Department once every two months, and allowed bail without deposit of RM500 for the bond, with a parent or guardian acting as surety.
The teenager was also ordered to attend interactive workshops organised by designated centres as provided under Section 93(1)(a) of the Child Act 2001 throughout the two-year period.
Earlier, the teenager pleaded guilty to a charge of criminal intimidation under Section 506 of the Penal Code, which carries a punishment of up to seven years’ imprisonment or a fine, or both, upon conviction.
According to the charge, at about 2.40 pm on Oct 21, at a school in Padawan, the accused committed criminal intimidation against the victim with the intent to cause fear by threatening to stab her 300 times and rape her.
The threats caused the victim to feel frightened, cry and suffer trauma, to the extent that she became afraid to attend school, with several classmates witnessing the incident.
The victim later lodged a police report after she could no longer endure the excessive behaviour.
The prosecution was conducted by Deputy Public Prosecutor Muhammad Aidil Akmal Sharidan, while the accused was unrepresented.
