KUALA LUMPUR, March 9 (Bernama) -- The Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living (KPDN) has conducted 40,563 inspections nationwide through OPS PANTAU 2026 to ensure price stability of goods and compliance with trade laws throughout Ramadan leading up to Aidilfitri.

KPDN Enforcement director-general Datuk Azman Adam said the inspections, carried out from Feb 19 to March 7, involved various business premises including Ramadan bazaars, grocery shops, wet markets, morning markets, night markets, farmers’ markets, mini supermarkets, restaurants and shopping complexes.

He said the inspections uncovered 785 cases involving various offences.

“Within the same period, a total of 930 complaints were received and action was taken. For the offences detected, 613 compounds were issued amounting to RM158,800, while the total value of seized items stood at RM4,275,524.3.

“Out of the total inspections carried out, 13,436 inspections were conducted at Ramadan bazaars nationwide,” he said in a statement.

Azman said inspections at Ramadan bazaars recorded eight cases involving the offence of failing to display price tags under the Price Control and Anti-Profiteering Act 2011 [Act 723], in addition to cases under the Weights and Measures Act 1972 [Act 71] and the Consumer Protection Act 1999 [Act 599].

For inspections at Aidilfitri bazaars, 934 inspections have been carried out so far with no cases recorded.

“In comparison, in 2025 a total of 4,878 inspections were conducted at Aidilfitri bazaars, with five cases recorded,” he said.

He said KPDN will continue monitoring and enforcement nationwide to ensure traders comply with the regulations set, while protecting consumers’ rights from price manipulation, trade fraud and profiteering activities.

In this regard, the public is encouraged to channel any complaints related to the prices of goods, supply or suspicious trading activities through KPDN’s official channels via WhatsApp at 019-8488000, the KPDN e-Aduan portal, the Call Centre at 1-800-886-800 or the Ez ADU KPDN smartphone application.
