Takaful Operators, Al Rajhi Bank Channel Relief For Flood Victims

KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 1 (Bernama) -- Takaful operators in Malaysia have collectively committed resources for relief and recovery efforts to assist Malaysians affected by the recent floods, particularly in the East Coast.

In a statement today, the Malaysian Takaful Association (MTA) said taking cognisance of the challenges faced by individuals displaced from their homes due to the floods, the operators have sprung into action to extend several relief measures. 

The measures include expediting the claims notification through calling the hotline number or WhatsApp without the need for extensive documentation; stationing adjusters to stand by in affected areas; expediting non-motor claims without the need for extensive documentation; and waiving the need for police reports to be filed before making a special perils claim for motor vehicles. 

Other measures are that adjusters’ report will be completed within five days after completion of survey in expediting the claim below RM20,000 and that simplified claims process is introduced for claims below RM50,000. 

“The MTA is also working with stakeholders to secure and provide emergency food and equipment supplies, logistics, both domestic and foreign, for distribution channel support, and critical systems like communications devices for on-ground relief efforts,” it said. 

Similarly, Al Rajhi Banking and Investment Corporation (Malaysia) Bhd (alrajhi bank Malaysia) is also offering emergency assistance to its customers impacted by the current floods across Malaysia. 

“Up to six months deferment of financing payment is offered to all affected individuals as well as small and medium enterprise customers. 

“During this period, profit will continue to be accrued but will not be compounded in line with Shariah principles,” it said. 

Additionally, any replacement of lost or damaged alrajhi bank Malaysia debit cards will be done at no charge to the customer.

“Corporate clients who are affected by the current situation are advised to contact their dedicated Relationship Managers for assistance,” the bank said.
