KUANTAN, May 24 (Bernama) -- The Regent of Pahang, Tengku Hassanal Ibrahim Alam Shah, decreed today that all military training and exercises in Pahang must first obtain the consent of the Sultan of Pahang, Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah.
His Highness said that he views military training activities by the Malaysian Armed Forces (MAF) seriously, especially those areas involving Islands in the state.
According to Tengku Hassanal, there are concerns that such activities could affect the environmental ecosystem, in addition to disrupting the flora and fauna in Pahang.
Tengku Hassanal clarified that he does not reject the implementation of military training aimed at enhancing the skills and experience of MAF officers and personnel. However, these activities must be carried out in a controlled, responsible, and a safe manner that is in harmony with the environment and all relevant parties.
"The MAF and all related departments or agencies must inform and obtain the consent of the Sultan of Pahang prior to conducting any military training and exercises in Pahang," he said in a statement today.
The Regent also emphasised that the MAF and all parties must comply with and uphold this decree, adding that he will not hesitate to request the state government to take appropriate action should any procedural violations occur.
