Entertainment Event Organiser Fined For Violating Licensing Conditions - MBKT

24/05/2026 08:36 PM

KUALA TERENGGANU, May 24 (Bernama) -- A company that organised an entertainment event in Kuala Terengganu has been issued a compound fine for violating prescribed licensing conditions.

Kuala Terengganu Datuk Bandar Lizan Che Mat said that the action was taken following an investigation into a viral video clip showing the indecent behavior of attendees at a musical event in Dataran Shahbandar, which drew public condemnation.

He said the action was taken under the Entertainment and Places of Entertainment Enactment 2002, which carries a penalty of a fine up to RM10,000, a maximum three years' imprisonment, or both.

"A compound was issued due to non-compliance with the licensing conditions. The approval of an entertainment license under the Entertainment and Places of Entertainment Enactment 2002 comes with specific conditions that organisers must strictly adhere to," he said when contacted today.

Lizan reminded all organisers of entertainment or recreational events in Terengganu to always remain mindful of and comply with the established guidelines and regulations to preserve public harmony and sensitivities.

He emphasised that the council would not compromise on issues regarding event organising conditions, particularly entertainment programmes that disrupt public peace.

"Every permit or license approved does not mean organisers are free to run events without control. They are responsible for ensuring that the programme takes place according to the set guidelines.

"The Kuala Terengganu City Council (MBKT) does not block any programme that has the potential to bring a positive impact to the people, but it must take place within the boundaries of the established laws," he said.
