GEORGE TOWN, April 17 -- Online food platform Foodpanda will collaborate with Penang Halal International to launch the e-Bazaar Ramadan to help Penang folks get their favourite foods during the coming month of Ramadan without leaving the house.
Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow said this collaboration will encourage more halal enterprises to make use of online platforms especially during the Movement Control Order (MCO) period in line with the 'Next Normal Penang Strategy'.
He said through this initiative, Foodpanda is helping local traders who are dependent on the month of Ramadan come up with a solution.
“The people of Penang will benefit from a special delivery service during these challenging times when the MCO is in place,” he said in a statement here today.
Meanwhile, chairman of Penang Halal International Datuk Abdul Halim Hussain said the effort will help promote a halal and toyyiban (clean) lifestyle among food traders.
“This collaboration will help traders by providing a digital solution while complying with halal requirements for their customers.
“With Malaysia in the third phase of the MCO, Foodpanda wants to encourage the people of Penang to stay at home and take care of themselves while at the same time enjoy their favourite foods during the month of Ramadan,” he said.
