INDONESIA

1. RI WELCOMES UN CEASEFIRE RESOLUTION -- THE JAKARTA POST
Indonesia welcomed on Thursday the adoption of a United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) resolution demanding an immediate ceasefire in Gaza, a document Jakarta cosponsored with several Muslim-majority countries and which received overwhelming support from UN members.

 

2. RIDWAN KAMIL CANCELS ELECTION LAWSUIT FOLLOWING COALITION LEADERS’ DIRECTIVE -- JAKARTA GLOBE
The campaign team of Jakarta gubernatorial candidate Ridwan Kamil has abandoned plans to challenge the election outcome, paving the way for rival Pramono Anung to claim victory.

 

CAMBODIA

1. PRIME MINISTER KICKS OFF CAMBODIA TRADE FAIR -- AGENCE KAMPUCHEA PRESSE  

Prime Minister Hun Manet will inaugurate the 17th Cambodia Trade Fair from today until 16 December. The fair will showcase Cambodia's high-quality products for export and also present the Kingdom’s exciting business and investment environment to foreigners.

 

2. RUBBER EXPORTS EARNINGS HIT RM2.5 BILLION -- FRESH NEWS 

Cambodia earned about RM2.5 billion (US$573 million) from rubber products exports in the first 11 months of this year. Rubberwood exports were RM22 million (US$4.9 million). The improved earnings were due to a steady rise in rubber prices.

 

LAOS

1. FIXING MACROECONOMICS WOES TO IMPROVE GROWTH -- VIENTIANE TIMES 

The National Assembly has asked the government to take stern measures to address swelling public debt, spiralling costs, fluctuating currency exchange rates and high inflation troubling the economy. Laos is targeting to achieve 4.8 per cent gross domestic product growth next year. 

 

2. THAI EXPERTISE TO ASSIST KIDNEY TRANSPLANT IN LAOS -- VIENTIANE TIMES

Laos’ Mittaphab Hospital and Thailand’s Ramathibodi Hospital agreed to perform kidney transplants locally. Under the agreement, a laboratory will be set up and regular workshops and medical conferences on nephrology for doctors will be organised at the hospital in Laos.

 

MYANMAR

1. MILITARY TECHNOLOGY IS THE NEW ERA OF DEFENCE -- THE GLOBAL NEW LIGHT OF MYANMAR

Myanmar leader Senior General Min Aung Hlaing said modern military technologies are key to developing the nation’s defence capabilities. Constant research on military science and technologies is important because sophisticated technologies are more useful than manpower in current wars.

 

2. FIRST KIDNEY TRANSPLANT AT NAY PAI TAW HOSPITAL -- THE GLOBAL NEW LIGHT OF MYANMAR

The first kidney transplant was performed at the Nay Pyi Taw General Hospital on 11 December. Kidney transplants are usually conducted every month at Yangon Speciality Hospital but the Ministry of Health decided to do the transplant in Nay Pyi Taw hospital.

 

VIETNAM

1. COFFEE EXPORTS TO CROSS RM22 BILLION  -- VIETNAMPLUS

Vietnam is optimistic that its coffee exports will surpass RM22 billion (US$5 billion) this year since prices of the commodity have increased over 50 per cent. Its exports grew in all the top 15 markets, while sales to Malaysia and the Philippines doubled. 

 

2. DEFENCE ACADEMY TIPPED TO BE TOP RESEARCH CENTRE -- VIETNAM NEWS

Prime Minister Phạm Minh Chính urged the National Defence Academy to become a regional training and research centre by 2030. He said this yesterday during the 80th anniversary of Vietnam's People's Army and the 35th anniversary of the All People’s Defence Festival event.
