MELAKA, Aug 11 (Bernama) -- Proposals from the First Session of the First Term of the Melaka Youth State Assembly 2025, held over three days starting today, will also be included in the 2026 Melaka Budget planning, said Chief Minister Datuk Seri Ab Rauf Yusoh.

He said the state government must consider these proposals to translate youth aspirations into policies and programmes with a direct impact on young people.

"The state government remains optimistic about giving every proposal and resolution from the assembly serious attention and effective follow-up action so their impact reaches youth across all levels throughout the state."

“Therefore, this year, I hope the focus can be broadened to a larger scope, including human capital development, strengthening the youth economy, technology mastery and empowering youth leadership,” he said during the opening of the assembly at Anjung Makmur, Melaka Historic City Council (MBMB) here today.

Also present were Melaka Youth State Assembly Speaker Datuk Khaidhirah Abu Zahar, members of the state executive council and State Secretary Datuk Azhar Arshad.

During the sitting, 34 members of the Youth State Assembly, including six appointed by the Chief Minister, were sworn in.

Ab Rauf urged full use of the youth state assembly to develop a clear, inclusive, and realistic youth agenda that matches current needs and the state's direction.

“This three-day assembly is a vital platform for members to discuss current issues, challenges, and aspirations of Melaka’s young generation across all executive council portfolios.

“I hope this assembly inspires and reinforces cooperation among all members, enabling Melaka’s youth and leaders to work together to drive the state’s progress to greater heights," he added.
