KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 16 (Bernama) -- The first TikTok Shop LIVE Hub launched today in Penampang, Sabah, serves to empower the micro, small and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs) in the country, said Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives Minister Datuk Ewon Benedick.

He said the collaborative effort between the National Entrepreneurial Group Economic Fund (TEKUN Nasional) and TikTok Shop Malaysia is essential in driving the growth of the country's e-commerce ecosystem while supporting digital businesses.

"This will open more opportunities for small and medium-sized entrepreneurs and create a space for local content creators to innovate.

"…the cooperation also provides opportunities for business owners to access the financing and training needed to grow their businesses digitally," he said in a statement today.

According to Ewon, this collaboration will establish 12 LIVE Hub studios in several states, including Sabah, Kuala Lumpur, Penang, Johor, Kelantan, and Sarawak, in the coming months.

Meanwhile, TikTok Shop Malaysia's director of strategic partnerships, Nur Azre Abdul Aziz, said today's LIVE Hub launch in Sabah marks a significant milestone in their ongoing collaboration to empower local MSMEs, providing them with the needed tools and knowledge to thrive in the digital economy.

"Our investment underscores TikTok Shop's long-term commitment to building an inclusive ecosystem that positively impacts the country's economy.

In the coming months, we will further expand our TikTok Shop LIVE Hub to several states, including Kuala Lumpur, Kelantan, Johor, Penang, and Sarawak, with the aim of strengthening our support for more MSMEs and local entrepreneurs in growing their businesses through live streaming

To ensure its success, TikTok Shop Malaysia will invest nearly RM3 million to develop and operate the TikTok Shop LIVE Hub across Malaysia, which is expected to benefit thousands of local MSMEs by generating new income, building closer relationships with customers, and driving sustainable business growth through Shoppertainment," she said.

Nur Azre added that Sabah entrepreneurs will benefit from this collaboration in various aspects, such as digital marketing, inventory management, and learning to use the TikTok Shop platform as an effective sales channel.
