MALAYSIAN INSTITUTE OF CERTIFIED PUBLIC ACCOUNTANTS (MICPA) has elected Datuk Gan Ah Tee as its president and Soo Hoo Khoon Yean as vice-president for the 2022/2023 term, following its 64th Annual General Meeting on May 28, 2022.

In a statement today, MICPA said Gan, who is the managing partner of BDO in Malaysia and regional senior partner of BDO in ASEAN, was elected to the MICPA Council in 2008.

Meanwhile, Soo, who is the managing partner of PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) Malaysia and the chairman of PwC's Southeast Asia Consulting practice, was elected to the MICPA Council in 2020.

PERTAMA DIGITAL BHD has appointed ex-chief justice of Malaya, Tun Zaki Tun Azmi as board chairman, effective today.

Tun Zaki, who served as independent non-executive director of Pertama Digital since April 21, 2020, succeeds Datuk Dr Kenny Ng Bee Ken in a leadership nomination aimed at steering the company further as it launches new businesses in line with its projected growth in the digital sector, it said in a statement today.

“As a listed company on the Main Market of Bursa Malaysia, Pertama Digital is championing a new model of government digitalisation that aims to reduce the financial burden on the public.

“It has successfully proven to back the govtech and fintech initiatives by providing impactful and inclusive solutions for the nation,” it added.

SERBA DINAMIK SDN BHD (Serba Dinamik) has strengthened its presence in the Middle East by signing a memorandum of agreement (MoA) with the United Arab Emirates (UAE) on May 19, which is expected to generate billions in annual revenue for the group.

In a statement today, group managing director and chief executive officer, Datuk Dr Mohd Abdul Karim Abdullah said the MoA focused on three areas, namely vertical farming, infrastructure and property development, and integrated solutions for the oil and gas industry.

He said vertical farming is one of the key areas that Serba Dinamik is currently focusing on as food security has become a concern among world leaders.

Vertical farming incorporates all the latest technology which every country will be able to use irrespective of the different climate and weather, he added.

GAMUDA LAND hosted a groundbreaking ceremony for Malaysia’s first Luge Activity Park today, set to be open to the public by the end of 2023.

In a statement today, it said the groundbreaking ceremony marks the beginning of construction of the Skyline Luge Activity Park in Gamuda Gardens by renowned New Zealand-based leisure and entertainment operator, Skyline Enterprises.

Built on a 30,000 square meter site, the park will feature the world’s first multi-cornered zipline and the country’s first-ever ski lift ride.

The Luge Activity Park will be Skyline Enterprises' fourth park in Asia, joining the others in Singapore, as well as in Busan and Tongyeong in South Korea.
