KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 3 (Bernama) -- PT Resources Holdings Bhd has sealed an underwriting agreement with Mercury Securities Sdn Bhd in conjunction with its initial public offering (IPO) on the ACE Market of Bursa Malaysia Securities Bhd.

In a statement today, the frozen seafood processor, wholesaler and retailer said it aimed to launch the prospectus for its IPO in the third quarter of 2022.

It said Mercury Securities is the principal adviser, sponsor, underwriter and placement agent for the company’s listing exercise, which entailed a public issue of 135 million new shares.

“Pursuant to the underwriting agreement, Mercury Securities will underwrite 40.127 million new shares, comprising 26.751 million shares made available to the Malaysian public via balloting and 13.376 million shares set aside for eligible directors, employees and persons who have contributed to the success of PT Resources and its subsidiaries,” it said.

It said 27.995 million new shares would be placed out to selected investors and 66.878 million shares to selected Bumiputera investors approved by the Ministry of International Trade and Industry (MITI).

Managing director Heng Chang Hooi said the signing of the agreement brought the company one step closer to its goal of an IPO to facilitate its expansion by financing the specific strategies and opportunities that have been identified such as growing its presence in the international markets and widening its local retail network through a licensing business model.

He said the Asia Pacific and Middle East markets continued to present opportunities for it to tap into and the company intended to continue growing its exports to these markets.

PT Resources and its subsidiaries is principally involved in the processing and trading of frozen seafood products as well as retail trading of chilled and frozen meat and non-meat products.

Its frozen seafood products are sold to both local and international markets, particularly countries in the Asia Pacific the Middle East.

The company has proposed to utilise the IPO proceeds to finance its capital expenditure for a new cold storage warehouse as well as working capital for the purchase of raw materials, which mainly comprise fresh and frozen seafood and meat products, to facilitate its expansion.
