KUALA LUMPUR, March 22 (Bernama) -- The young generation who are keen to venture into technology development is advised to equip themselves with related knowledge and technology in addition to having a deep interest in what they do, said Mazer Fintech Sdn Bhd chief operating officer Mamed Fudarizi.

He said emphasis should be given to the need to find the best mentor to provide comprehensive exposure to the technology development industry.

“When we are in this industry (technology development), especially for startups, among the challenges that we will face is criticism on the technology that we develop,” he told Bernama.

Mamed explained that with exposure from a mentor and knowledge of the technology, the young generation will be capable to face any criticism or challenges that come.

What is needed is an understanding of the system introduced and its objective, he said.

“If we fail to understand what are the things that we cannot settle or resolve, it will be challenging for us to do business,” he said, adding that the young generation should participate in companies that need more local talents, which includes data scientists, designers, robotics automation and engineers.

Established in 2019, Mazer Fintech is the developer of the financial technology platform JomSETEL.

The platform provides services for credit card users to make or receive payments without the need for credit card terminals, websites or payment gateways.

“The platform, which is in the market since February 2021, enables credit card users to make transactions payments or business overhead costs such as rent, suppliers invoices and so on,” he said.

While for entrepreneurs, he said, this platform assists them in managing business cash flow more efficiently.

Mamed said JomSETEL is the first platform in Malaysia which provides such services, adding that without support and encouragement from the Malaysian Technology Development Corporation (MTDC), Mazer Fintech will not be able to expand to this level.

MTDC, he said, has not only provided guidance and financial assistance facilities to startups but also motivation and how fund allocation can be best utilised.

“MTDC’s role has given a huge impact on the journey of JomSETTLE and the company,” he said.

In relation to this, Mamed said Mazer Fintech has several core visions that it wants to focus on in the next few years, among which is to change the perception and spending behaviour among credit card holders.

“Besides that, our aspiration is also to assist and empower gig workers by offering credit card facilities.

“We can achieve this aspiration by providing several solutions such as e-invoicing and virtual credit to gig workers in Malaysia,” he said.
