LABUAN, March 10 (Bernama) -- Sabah Electricity Sdn Bhd (SESB) is looking towards technological innovative ideas from its in-house experts to boost the production capacity of the Sabah grid that is still at critical levels.
Its chief executive officer (CEO) Mohd Yaakob Hj Jaafar said they had managed to modify the 132kV circuit breakers to 11kV successfully using the experience and knowledge of SESB employees.
"This is a continuous effort by SESB to boost the electricity supply to the Sabah grid,” he said in a statement today, adding that this was the first time they attempted to use innovative ideas such as these on power plants, which allowed the Patau-Patau power plant to boost its electricity generation earlier than scheduled in December 2024.
He added that SESB was in the final process of restarting the GT2 and GT3 gas turbines at the power station, which have been out of operation since last year.
“The resumption of operations for Patau-Patau power plant will generate an additional 60MW of electricity supply daily to the Sabah grid,” he said.
