TEHRAN, May 28 (Bernama-IRNA) -- The city council in the Iranian capital, Tehran has decided to name two streets and one highway after President Ebrahim Raisi and Foreign Minister Hossein Amirabdollahian, who were killed in a helicopter crash recently.

According to Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA), the council decided in its 240th session on Tuesday to rename a long section of the Be’sat Highway in the south of the city after Raisi.

A section of East Pasteur Street, located in central Tehran, will also be named after Raisi, the Council announced.

The Koushk-e Mesri Street in downtown Tehran, where the Iranian Foreign Ministry is located, will be renamed after Amirabdollahian, it added.

Raisi, Amirabdollahian and several more officials lost their lives on May 19 when their helicopter crashed in Iran’s northwestern province of East Azerbaijan.

They were en route to the provincial capital Tabriz from the border with Azerbaijan, where Raisi had inaugurated a joint dam with his Azeri counterpart Ilham Aliyev.
