JOHOR BAHRU, June 15 (Bernama) -- The Tunku Mahkota Ismail Youth Centre (TMIYC) in Pasir Gudang is expected to be ready by November or December.

Johor Youth, Sports, Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives Committee chairman Mohd Hairi Mad Shah said the TMIYC in Iskandar Puteri, meanwhile, should be completed in July next year before similar youth activity centres in other districts are set up.

"Youths in other districts have also asked for the TMIYC to be built in their areas. I expect several other areas will benefit from it next year.

"However, this is subject to the Johor Budget,” he told a media conference after officiating the launch of the third anniversary celebration of the local drink Haos Ek? here today.

Menteri Besar Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi was previously reported as saying that the Regent of Johor Tunku Mahkota Ismail wanted the TMIYC to be developed in all 10 districts in the state within five years from 2022.

The TMIYC in Johor Bahru is the first youth activity centre in Johor, followed by the TMIYC in Muar, which is in the final phase of construction.

On the state government's efforts to help entrepreneurs in Johor, Mohd Hairi said various measures had been taken, including allocations under Budget 2024, namely RM8.8 million through Perbadanan Usahawan Johor (PUJB).

As such, he said, the state government would continue to empower local entrepreneurs so that they will be able to compete at the domestic and global levels.

Earlier, local beverage producer Haos Ek? launched its new drink product "O2 Alka", which is oxygenated alkaline drinking water with nanotechnology.

The company, launched in 2021, has about 3,000 distributors and sales centres in the Peninsula and 350 distributors and sales centres in Singapore.
