SHARJAH (United Arab Emirates), June 15 (Bernama-WAM) -- As Eid Al-Adha approaches, the Department of Islamic Affairs in Sharjah, United Arab Emirates (UAE), has announced the allocation of 640 musallas and mosques for prayer across the emirate.

This initiative is part of their dedication to reviving the Sunnah of Prophet Muhammad, the Emirates News Agency (WAM) reported.

The comprehensive plan includes designated prayer areas and public squares, ensuring that all worshippers have access to suitable facilities.

The department has coordinated closely with Sharjah Police, Sharjah Municipality and other relevant authorities to ensure smooth operations and security during the Eid.

Recognising the emirate's diverse population, several musallas and mosques will offer services in multiple languages, including Urdu, Malayalam, Tamil and English.

This effort ensures that non-Arabic speakers can fully participate in the prayers and khutbahs.

In an inclusive move, the Imam Ahmed bin Hanbal Mosque in Al Jazzat will provide instant translation of the Eid khutbah into sign language, allowing those with hearing impairments to engage in the religious observances.

Chairman of the Department of Islamic Affairs in Sharjah, Abdullah Khalifa Yaroof Al Suboosi, highlighted the department's mission to facilitate religious practices and create a conducive environment for worshippers.

Specialised teams have been preparing the prayer areas, including the installation of cooling and sound systems to ensure comfort for the large number of attendees expected.

In addition to preparing the prayer sites, the department is organising a series of educational programmes in mosques during the first ten days of Zulhijjah.

These lessons and lectures will cover the virtues of deeds, the rulings and conditions of Udhiyah (sacrifice), and the Sunnahs of Eid, aiming to enhance religious awareness and understanding among the community, including expatriates.
