300 Participants From 20 Countries To Participate In RFC Grand Final 2024 In Lenggong

LENGGONG, 30 Nov (Bernama) -- A total of 300 participants and media representatives from more than 20 countries will participate in the Rainforest Challenge (RFC) Grand Final 2024 which will take place from Nov 29 to Dec 9, here.

State Tourism, Industry, Investment and Corridor Development Committee chairman Loh Sze Yee said among the vehicle categories participating in the RFC this time are R1 Prototype, R2 Semi Modified, R3 Standard and ATV.

"This RFC will be attended by participants and international media representatives from 20 countries, namely Malaysia, Poland, Latvia, Germany, Russia, India, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Vietnam, Indonesia, the Philippines, Singapore and so on with the involvement of 150 four-wheel drive vehicles.

"In addition, the RFC, which is entering its 27th edition, has also hoisted Malaysia in the eyes of the world where this event ranks third out of the 10 toughest motorsports in the world in line with the Dakar Rally, BAJA Race, Le Mans 24hr Race and Isle of Man Race," he said.

He said this at a press conference after completing the launch of the Rainforest Challenge 2024 Programme at Dataran Lenggong here today.

Loh said the event would involve routes around Lenggong including inland areas around the Piah Forest Reserve (Terkop), Piah Forest Reserve (Kg Sanum Pos Poi) and Korbu Forest Reserve (Ulu Kuang).

"Along this location, the participants will not only be served with a winding path that is mentally and physically challenging but the mesmerizing aroma will also be able to be felt by them," he said.

He said this at a press conference after completing the launch of the Rainforest Challenge 2024 Programme at Dataran Lenggong here today.

Loh also hoped that hosting the extreme sports in the district was an effort by the state government and the parties involved to raise the name of Lenggong to become an extreme sports hub not only in Malaysia but also at the international level.

"Previously, we had the Rimba Raid Lenggong 2024 which gathered participants who are active in extreme motorsports, after that we had the Lenggong Iron Bound A1 World Cup Championship which took place last November.

"This time it is the RFC that comes here, so for me this is one of the contributors that can add value in raising the name of Lenggong besides providing an overflow of sustenance to the local community," he said.
